£980
A GWR cabside numberplate, 9401, from a 9400 Class 0-6-0PT, built in February 1947, the second of this large class of 210 engines of which only the first ten were built at Swindon, the remainder by various contractors. Its sheds were Old Oak Common, Reading, Shrewsbury, Gloucester, Worcester and finally Bromsgrove where it was used as a banking loco on the Lickey incline. In January 1957 it was loaned on trial to Stratford on the Eastern Region but does not seem to have met ER requirements, returning to home territory the following June. Withdrawn from Bromsgrove in the week ending 13 July 1963, it was cut up at Swindon Works. The front repainted. (Postage Band: D)
