DAVID LESTOURGEON OF LONDON: A circa 1700 ebonised bell-top chiming and repeating bracket clock by David Lestourgeon of London. Striking on six bells for the quarter and one bell for the hour, verge escapement, pull repeat cord attached to a pulley on the backplate giving a quarter repeat chime first followed by a strike, the backplate with floral scrolled engraving and phoenix to centre. Housed within an ebonised case, brass carry handle and finial top, the brass rectangular dial plate signed David Lestourgeon London with gilt ormolu cherub spandrels, silvered Roman chapter ring, blued steel hands, silent strike lever, false pendulum window and date aperture. 38cm high x 27cm wide x 16.5cm deep
