A lovely original oil on canvas painting by renowned artist Arthur Twells (1921-1996) showing a view of Malin Head from a pebble beach with turquoise waves rolling in. Twells sells well at auction, with a sale at Whyte's fetching €1587.

Arthur Twells was born in Nottingham in 1921. He was granted a scholarship to Nottingham College of Art at the age of 11 which he left to work in textile design, before joining the Navy. It was during his service that he travelled to Derry in Ireland, a place he would later settle with his wife. Twells’ career in art really took off in the 1960s when he opened a studio at Shipquay Street, from then he exhibited regularly throughout Ireland and the UK.
