Harthacnut silver Penny, sole reign (1040-1042), Arm and Sceptre type, moneyer Godsunu (S 1169, North 799, BMC II). Obverse: diademed bust, left, with a sceptre in front, name given as 'CNUT'. Reverse: a curved quadrilateral with pellets in the centre and at tips over a voided short cross with '+ GODSVNV ON CENT' around. Weight: 1.18g. Diameter: 19mm. Grade: attractively gilded on the reverse with four rivets that would have supported the framework for a brooch or another jewellery item, displaying the cross - an interesting historical piece.
