A nameplate, OXFORDSHIRE from a LNER D49 Shire Class 4-4-0 No 253 built at Darlington in November 1927, renumbered 2702 in 1946, becoming BR 62702. Starting its working life in north-east England, it moved in 1943 to Scotland, allocated first to Haymarket and then St Margarets. On returning to England in 1952, it was allocated to York and then Neville Hill from where it was withdrawn on 12 November 1958 and cut up at Darlington Works. Cast brass, length 46½", the front repainted. (Postage Band: N/A)
