RARE TYPE 1 CARD EX BRITISH INTERNEE IN "CAMP No.2, KUCHING" SENT TO AUSTRALIA FOR FORWARDING TO G.B.; 1943/44 usage of the rare small-margins Type 1 "IMPERIAL JAPANESE ARMY" card (some creases) from "J.B. ARCHER" [Chief Secretary to the Government of Sarawak] in "CAMP No.2, KUCHING" to the "Sarawak Government Agent" in Sydney, having purple Japanese & Australian censors on the front; Tett only records 6 Internee usages of this Type 1 card including this example. The message is quite long (presumably contrary to Camp regulations), send greetings to 5 individuals including "THE RAJAH", and instructs the addressee to forward the card to the writer's family. Accompanied by the 5 Dec. 1944 covering letter from the Sarawak Govt. Office in London forwarding the card "received from Mr. Archer which has just arrived from Australia". Exceptional item. Cross Reference: AUSTRALIA, MILITARY - P.O.W. MAIL, MILITARY - WWII, MILITARY - CENSORED MAIL
