Gilded to the centre with a pair of phoenixes in flight, the wide rim enamelled with figurative scroll paintings on an iron-red and gilded ground, alternated by shaped cartouches enamelled with white and lavender chrysanthemums on a cobalt and gold field, the reverse painted with underglaze-blue foliate scrolls and iron-red Buddhist emblems, minor age wear
