HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
This is a fine example of the period including a number of different elements of painting. For example the still life, landscape and a portrait all within the same painting. The painting is also in excellent condition with a beautiful gilt frame.
Portrait of a young lady, half length, wearing a pale pink satin dress trimmed with lace at the décolletage and cuffs and embellished with blue bows she holds a Flower and countryside views are seen in the distance although the sitter is unknown we can see from clothing that she came from a wealthy family and was probably from the Gentry.
The work is very closely related to William Hoare a leading artist of the 18th century.
