A 1:5 SCALE REPLICA MODEL OF THE 1537 BASTARD CULVERIN FROM THE MARY ROSE BY OAKCRAFT FOR THE TRAFALGAR GUN COMPANY, CIRCA 1982
the 25in. barrel cast in bronze and richly decorated with lion's heads, Tudor monogram, and English and Latin inscriptions, mounted on a detailed bronze-mounted oak carriage with makers plate to front -- 26 x 8¾in. (66 x 22cm.); together with promotional data and blank certificate of pedigree.
Intended for sale by Mary Rose Trust, the original project envisaged a limited edition of 1000, however the lost wax manufacturing process proved so costly that only a handful are thought to have ever been produced. One is believed to have been presented to H.R.H. The King when, as Prince of Wales, he served as the Trust's patron, however, no other examples of this scale have been traced passing through auction rooms.
