7788 - Limited edition Salvador Dali titled "Bouche mysterieuse appraissant dans le dos de ma nourrice". One of an edition of only 95 published worldwide. This rare limited edition will be supplied with signed certificate of authentication (signed by the Master Printer) along with a replacement valuation certificate for £1800 (free of charge). Professionally framed in an Italian bespoke frame with mount. Condition of this piece is excellent. The original work, gouache on the cover of a magazine, measures 45 x 30 cms (18 x 12 ins). It was painted in 1941, when Dali was mid-career and writing his semi-autobiography 'The Secret Life of Salvador Dali'. Keeping the facial features of the original magazine cover, Dali metamorphosed the portrait into a coastal landscape using overpainting techniques. The title translates to 'Mysterious Mouth Appearing Behind My Nurse's Back'. Alluding to his childhood memories, the painting depicts Dali himself as a boy, with his nurse Llucia on a Catalonian beach. The double-image is characteristic of Dali and his artwork, a visual manifestation of his surreal and fantastical inner world.. H: 87.0cm W: 97.0cm D: 8.0cm
