WWII Sheffield Blitz Boxed Kings Commendation for Brave Conduct Badge and Pair Laurel Leaf Emblems, with commendation and correspondence confirming the award for Ambulance Driver William Townsend, he was gazetted on 11 April for his bravery in December 1940 during the German Bombing of Sheffield, he extinguished incendiary bombs and in spite of being injured he drove an ambulance during the remainder of the raid.
