Star Lot : A fabulous late 19th century writer's bureau made by James Simpson Glasgow, with eight pull drawers to top as well as ten pull drawers to base, all fitted with brass drop handles. Writing slope to centre with leather top lifts to reveal further storage within. Features split level gallery back with nice carved detailing. Maker's plaque under writing slope.
James Simpson Family Firm were cabinetmakers and upholsterers in Glasgow who operated in the 19th century. The maker's plaque dates this piece to 1884.
