LADO ENCLAVE, 1906-08 & BAHR EL GHAZAL: Belgian Congo 50c stamp insc. "Etat Independant du Congo" pen-cancelled Lado & sig along with 306 dot rhomboid "Retta" cancel. With Vanni Alfani Certificate of Authenticity. All mail and such cancels originating in the Lado enclave are rare. Also 3 examples of forged cancels (Willy Balasse certified & cut in half!). Lot inc. a range of PPCs produced by Angelo H. Capato, Khartoum depicting scenes of Bahr el Ghazal and real photo types of Belgian soldiers in Lado. Additionally a 11 Sep. 1918 env. from French Equatorial Africa to Paris franked by 2 x 5m Camel Postman types cancelled Wau (Formerly Fashoda) - probably carried across the border to enter the Sudanese postal system & 9 Aug. 1940 Air Mail from Belgian Congo (Belgian Congo franking) to Mombasa with transit mark of Sudan Air Mail, Juba.
