AN ORIGINAL FRENCH OFFICERS 1818 PATTERN SHAKO this example is missing the pom–pom but has the Gallic Cockerel with the national colour behind it; the chin metal strap present but the leather has shrunk over time, making it difficult to close; parts of the liner remain, but most of it has been lost to time; the peak is still tight to the body of the Shako, and there is wear consistent with age to the material of the Shako
