£260
A continental black enamel patch box, probably Limoges, 19th century, of waisted form, the hinged cover finely enamelled with a lady’s portrait on a gilt fleur de lys ground among scrolling floral motifs, opening to a polished copper and mirrored interior, the base with a red ribboned classical portrait, 3cm high, 4.5cm diameter
The enamel shows age-related fine surface wear throughout (including some fine scratching to the underside), and tarnishing to the metal mounts, but no obvious chips, cracks or losses to the enamel.
