A Chinese hardwood 'dragon' box, possibly zitan, late 19th/early 20th century, the rectangular cover carved in relief with a dragon and flaming pearl amid scrolling clouds, mounted with a pair of looped handles, 34cm wide

Some occasional fine age splits to the timber on the cover which do not go all the way through. The cover is slightly warped on the right hand side. Some corrosion to the metal handles hinges and clasp. Otherwise in good condition.
