POSSIBLE LITERARY CONNECTION: TWO TRAVELLING CHESS SETS, one with a possible Siegfried Sassoon connection, comprising a wooden cased part chess set attributed to Siegfried's younger brother Hamo Watts Sassoon (1887-1915), with fourteen original white bone pieces in the board and plastic replacements, the exterior having 'H.W. Sasson Xmas 1900' inscription, HWS metal monogram on the other side, and the inscription appears repeated in a child's handwriting, closed box length 20.5cm x depth 10cm x height 6.5cm, board area measuring 18.5cm square, comes with printed note of possible provenance, together with a burgundy cased chess set complete with plastic pieces (2) (Condition Report: wooden set missing most original pieces, some wear and marking to the burgundy case and board, otherwise appear ok)
