JEAN PILLEMENT (1728 – 1808), French, “The Four Seasons”, set of four, oil on canvas, all signed and dated Jean Pillement 1799, and gilt plaque to lower central mount “Jean Pillement LYON 1727-1808", all in ornate gilt frame; Condition: Two with surface scratches and wear to canvas. Two possibly been cleaned, two in need of a clean. Provenance: Old Labels verso, stuck to wood verso, with pen numbering 1-4 the series, and with typing, now indistinct: “Jean Pillement, 1799, From the collection of The Lady Cunliffe-Lister, Swinton Park, Mashan, Nr Ripon, Sold 26th ? August, 1932, Formally from the ? Tanby Collection”. The current vendor – her Grandmothers father owned them. The paintings have been housed in different locations with family members and were re-united as a set of 4, hanging in the vendors house for the last few years. 44cm x 66cm approx.
