Star Lot: An incredible, limited edition (348/600) print by famed Irish artist John Kindness (b. 1951), of his iconic work entitled 'Avis Beneficium', printed from two copper plates worked on by hand by the artists and then etched many times in the traditional way. The print features a rubber duck along side its anatomical study, in vibrant shades of yellow, orange and red. The print is hand signed in pencil by artist, and dated to 1994. In a presentation sleeve published by The Graphic Studio, Dublin. A print from the same edition sold at Adam's sold for €670, surpassing the estimated price. A stunning piece for any art collection.
Kindness is one of the most outstanding Irish artists of his generation. His career to date includes solo exhibitions at the Ulster Museum and the Philadelphia Institute of Contemporary Art, while his work is the collections of the British Museum, The V&A Museum, IMMA and the Hugh Lane.
