c.1830’s, a dainty fan with embossed gold metal guards, featuring a face and flowers, the gorge pierced and silvered mother of pearl, the double paper leaf featuring Cupid with his flaming torch arriving in a clearing where two young ladies in stylized period dress are consulting a lottery or similar, the drum between them with the words, in Spanish, “Cada numero traje un amor), unaware that a suitor approaches from behind, the verso shows a single maiden being approached by a suitor wishing to profess his love, contained in the lower half or a period pink card tube, guard approx.20.5cm
