Original, hand painted illustration, entitled ‘The Prisoner’ by Jean Derval, who studied as a graphic designer and poster artist at the Ècole des Arts Appliqués on Rue Dupetit-Thouars in Paris. Derval subsequently used his artistic background to develop his skills as a potter, working alongside Roger Capron in Robert Picault in Vallauris the 1940s, and subsequently joining Picasso at his Madoura workshop for two years from 1949. This piece is hand signed with Derval’s distinctive monogram and has been professionally framed with a double mount board. Measures 49.5cm by 43cm.
