An 1805 pattern sword for Royal Naval Commanders and above, straight fullered blade 32½”, etched with crowned Royal Arms and supporters, crowned foulded anchor, naval triphies and naval crown, blued and gilt for two thirds of its length, regulation gilt stirrup hilt, the lancets engraved with fouled anchor, facetted backstrap and lion’s head pommel, wirebound ivory grip. GC the blade retaining approximately 40% blue and gilt, the hilt approximately 85% gilt (top of grip chipped, a few small cracks, some light pitting stains to blade) £500-600.
