A Japanese carved blackwood and ivory screen, Meiji period, circa 1880, the panels applied with high relief carved ivory and bone chrysanthemums, with birds and insects against a red lacquer ground painted with blossoming trees, the reverse with carved ivory birds in flight with painted maple trees and leaves, within carved floral slip with stippled ground, mounted within an ornate black wood frame, carved throughout with dragons with inlaid bone and mother of pearl eyes, amongst clouds, each panel 89.5cm wide,192cm high
