1932 (Feb-Nov) Bertram Atlantic Expedition, Cologne to Sydney flight led by Capt. Hans Bertram in his Junkers seaplane "Atlantis", large unaddressed "Deutsch-Amerikanische Petroleum, Berlin" envelope with "BERTRAM ATLANTIS / EXPEDITION" cachet, bearing stamps and cancels of all the countries visited en route, comprising Germany (Berlin), Switzerland (Lugano), Italy (Venice), Greece (Athens), Syria (Alexandrette), Iraq (Baghdad), Persia (Bushire), India (Bombay), Ceylon (Colombo), Siam (Bangkok), Straits Settlements (Singapore), Netherlands Indies (Batavia) and Australia (Wyndham and Sydney). The expedition left Darwin on May 19th but were blown off course and came down near Wyndham; they were not found until July 4th. Fine and scarce, 40 covers flown from Germany to Australia, this cover possibly unique with all 14 stamps. Photo on Inside Back Cover.
