£850
An officer's Flintlock pistol by Prosser, early 19th century, the sighted barrel engraved 'Charing Cross London' along the sighting flat, the foliate engraved tang with back-sight, the lock engraved with a starburst and signed 'PROSSER', the stock with flattened butt cut with a cross in the centre of each diamond, the pommel-cap decorated with a flower-head centred on the retaining screw, the trigger guard with Britannia shield on the bow, the trigger-plate with pineapple finial, swivelling stirrup ramrod, the 23.5cm barrel with 1.8cm bore, 39.5cm long overall
The action appears to be functional, the hammer with two step cocking and the trigger releasing easily. There is a flint fitted. The barrel interior appears somewhat rusty. Overall the piece shows wear commensurate with age.
