Irish North Mayo Militia Victorian Officer shako plate circa 1855-61. Fine rare die-stamped silvered crowned star mounted with title circlet; domed centre bearing VR cypher. Two horizontal loops. VGC Raised 1763 at Castlebar; 1817 HQ at Ballina; circa 1855 redesignated North Mayo Fusiliers Militia. 1.7.1881 merged with the South Mayo Militia as 3rd Bn Connaught Rangers.
