[Uxbridge, Henry Paget, Earl of]. Autograph letter from the private secretary of Lord Uxbridge to F. W. Haden, the Deputy Commissary General, annotated as having been written on the battlefield of Waterloo, giving details of the losses of all the armies and the amputation of Lord Uxbridge's leg above the knee ' but he is as well as possible.' With a note on the reverse giving details of French officers made prisoner. 1p., 4to. In mount and frame with caricature of the Duke of Wellington on horseback. Exhibited at the Waterloo exhibition 1890. Recalling the famous exchange between Uxbridge and the Duke with the former saying, 'By God sir, I've lost my leg' and the reply, 'By God, sir, so you have' *Condition: Framed and glazed to both sides, some browning to paper and spotting.
