An English lignum vitae turned wood spice container box and cover, 18th/19th century. Of cylindrical form with a waisted side, the cover centrally incorporated with a William III (1694 - 1702) coin enclosed within concentric bands. Used for containing spices, typically nutmeg. 3.5 in (8.8 cm) diameter.
Condition report: Minor chips and the base and wear typical with age throughout.
