Czech postcard sent to Dachau concentration camp dated 1944, addressed to Karl Horais, Dachau block 20/III, from his mother. Karl, or Karel, Horais was born in 1902, married a woman named Anna and acted as a Nazi resister in the early years of the Second World War, before being betrayed and taken to Dachau. He spent four years there using his skills as an electrician, surviving until well after the camp's liberation. Perhaps because he was a political prisoner rather than one of the 'undesirables' by Nazi ideology, he received semi-regular communications from his mother and father. Horais survived the war and died in 1968, refusing to recall the years spent in the camp to his daughter, also called Anna. Contents difficult to read due to the cursive and language, with a photograph of the town hall of Brno, Horais' hometown. Postmarked Dachau (information from a local museum archive in Czech Republic)
