Charles I (1625-1649) halfcrown, mm. Lion, York mint. Obverse with tall horse, mane in front of chest and tail showing between legs. Rev. with oval garnished shield with lion's skin garniture. Small flan flaw does not detract from what is a delightful coin, sharply struck and with wonderful toning. A couple of minor marks in obverse field and a scuff under front hoof otherwise aEF, better in places. [15.11g, N.2315, S.2869]
