'The Bible' (English), printed in London by Robert Barker in 1615, 'The Bible: Translated according to the Hebrew and Greeke, and conferned with the best translations in divers languages... imprinted at London by Robert Barker, 1615.' Printed in the time of James I (1566-1625), an English translation of the Christian Bible for the Church of England, also known as King James's Bible (first published in 1611 - just four years earlier than this version). Includes the Psalms, Godly Prayers, Apocrypha, Old and New Testament, the Genealogies, The First Alphabet and Second (A dictionary). Decorative woodcut borders, double column black letter text with marginal notes in Roman type, some cropping of pages due to hand cutting. Many pages detached, as well as front cover, hence will need to be re-bound, some page edges frayed and pages yellowing, some foxing and water damage, with hand written annotations on some blank pages from the C17th and C18th. This is a remarkable historical document given its age, but will need attention (please view photos)
