1793-1814 MGSM 8 clasps Roleia, Vimiera, Corunna, Barrosa, Vittoria, Pyrenees, St Sebastian, Orthes to J. Western Qr Mr Serjt 82nd Foot good very fine. With copied service paper, John Western was born in Lambeth, enlisted in 82nd Foot 18/7/1799 aged 18, he served nearly 21 years as a Sgt and 1 year and 142 days as Qr Mr Sgt, being discharged 17/12/1822. According to the printed roll, this is the maximum clasp entitlement to the regiment and he was one of only 4 to receive it, Ex Glendining's 1983.(See photo) (R)
