In the autumn of 1991, the 800 was re-skinned and re-engineered under the R17 codename, being launched on 12 November 1991. This saw the re-introduction of the traditional Rover grille and more curvaceous bodywork. The scope of the design change was restricted by the need to retain the core structure, including the door structure design From February 1992 until 1996, the Rover 800 Coupe came exclusively with the 2.7 Honda V6 engine and 16" Rover 'Prestige' alloys. A four-speed automatic transmission came as standard, and the car was capable of well over 130 mph.
This Rover 820i has only 28,500 miles recorded, which is believed genuine, and has had only 3 previous keepers. Clearly the car has been garaged most of its life, because there are no rust issues, and it is said never to have been welded. The headlining and interior are near perfect. The car drives just as they did when they were new.These cars are not going to get any cheaper, its a modern classic. No advisories on the MoT, the tester commented on the excellent state of the car. Very rare in this condition, must be one of the best ones out there.
