WW1 Memorial Plaque to John Marshall Trevarthen extremely fine. A unique name on CWGC, he was 766320 Pte, 28th Bn (Artists Rifles) London Regt and died aged 29 on 30th July 1917 and is buried in Walton-on-the-Hill Churchyard. A sad story, he jumped from the station platform at Colchester in front of an incoming train, the various reports and letters state he committed suicide while temporarily insane. With 4 copied pages of service record, CWGC etc, he was born in Purley, attested 10/12/15, mobilised 13/7/17, did not serve overseas, so no medal entitlement. (R)
