£800
A 17th century brass lantern clock, the 5 7/8in chapter ring inscribed 'Nicholas Coxeter, London Fecit', 40cm high, (converted to anchor escapement, lacking weights and pendulum).
Good overall untouched surface patina.
Probably typical alterations to mechanism.
The minute hand has probably been added as there is no minute register on the chapter ring.
The frets correspond to closely to the dolphin examples on other Lantern clocks by Coxeter.
The bell is loose and currently held in place by modern pins.
The chapter ring fits the dial size.
As the weights and pendulum are not present we cannot ascertain if it is in working order.
As with all clocks of this age and type it may have further adaptions and/or alterations of which we are unaware and we would strongly recommend personal inspection.
