Rare casualty's Royal Marines George III Officer's commission warrant appointing Issac Potter, Gent, to be a Second Lieutenant in the 49th Company of Marines, signed by the King etc at St James's on 29th October 1772, in good condition, but has been attached to a board.
With a research letter from the Royal Marines Museum, Issac Potter was first commissioned 2nd October 1762 in the 19th Company, Chatham Division, but placed on half pay the following year. He was then re-commissioned on 29th October 1772, promoted Lieutenant in 58th Company, Plymouth Division on 24th July 1775, formed part of the fourth Company of the Marines Battalion sent to Boston for the American war of Independence. He was wounded at the Battle of Bunker Hill and subsequently died of wounds at Boston on 25th February 1776. With copied list of Marine Officers Portsmouth Division 1773.
