John and Pippa Brooker, a limited-edition fan ( the first by this maker), number 29 of 100, commemorating the life of Horatio, Lord Nelson, 1758 – 1805, “The Norfolk Hero”, the side vignettes depicting nelson’s birthplace, Burnham Thorpe Parsonage House and his ship “The Victory” on which he died during the Battle of Trafalgar, the background in watermark fashion showing sailing ships, the verso signed by both the Brookers and painted with a delicate border of wild flowers, contained in a sturdy original box with inside label “The Fan Attic, Fan Makers and Publishers, East Budham, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, PE31 8RB guard length approx. 26.5 cm, the gorge sticks, in pear wood, in serpentine form, the upper guards carved in fish scale form and lined with blue foil, surmounted by a ship’s anchor, guard approx. 26.5cm
