Military issue Bino Prism No.5 Binoculars with crows foot mark dated 1943 Reg.No.52621.
(7 x 50) with a black crackle-finished body and a canvas carrying strap. The two eyepieces have independent adjustment. The bincoulars can be pivoted for inter-ocular adjustment, but there is no central focussing. The maker's trademark appears on the right hand tube, while the broad arrow Government mark is on the lower bridge. The red-painted screws cover dry air ports for de-misting when required. The binoculars are also fitted with graticules - a series of marks visible when observing that allow one to work out the sizes of distant objects. The Mark 5 was a military specification for the British Army that was also made by other firms. The pattern was introduced in 1936. Examples were apparently still in use in the British Army as recently as 2015.
