EARLY LETTER - FROM G.B. (SMARDEN KENT?) TO ANTWERP WITH "2 Sch"(?) POSTAL RATE; Fine 9 Dec. 1637 EL (folds to show internal date-heading beside address-panel; in Flemish) from "Guillielmo Coppens....Coopper" addressed (in a difficult hand) to "Dersaemes Voorsienigses[?]... Van Honsem, Coopman Antwerpen"; it appears to have a "2 Sch" postal rate (Thurn & Taxis Post?) alongside the word "Antwerp" in the address. A rare early letter sent across the Channel only two years after the start of the British inland Post Office in July 1635. Cross Reference: KENT, BELGIUM, EARLY LETTERS
