A US Civil War Gallager’s Patent .52” breech loading percussion carbine, 39” overall, barrel 22”, numbered 8884 on the lock, the back action lock marked “GALLAGER’S PATENT JULY 17TH 1860” and “MANUFACTURED BY RICHARDSON & OVERMAN. PHILADA”, walnut butt with steel mounts including hinged butt trap, and with saddle bar and ring on the left side. GWO & C (lightly worn overall). An underlever slides the barrel forwards allowing the barrel to tip downwards for loading. £500-800
