£600
A pair of early 19th century English pearlware milkmaid cow creamers: stripped brown and umber spongeware decoration and translucent green glaze; supported on convex rectangular bases. (13.5 cm high x 16 cm wide)
They come from a private collection; the creamer with the lot number on -- there seems to be a 'disconnect' where the milkmaid's wrists meet the udders, small chips of glazing away and a small firing crack inside the mouth, at least one of the horns has been away and there is evidence of old restoration, the back of the head appears to have been restored and there is evidence of a hairline crack running along the back; the second cow creamer has firing cracks to the rear where the legs meet the body; there is a firing crack where the tail meets the body and a piece of glazing away from the front left-hand leg; exhibits restoration to horns and ears and firing crack to mouth.
