An interesting 1845 pattern infantry officers sword, curved, fullered blade 32”, with combined mark of maker and retailer at forte “Firmin & Sons 153 Strand London” on oval strap with “Marks Chatham” in the centre, blade well etched on both sides with crowned VR cypher in tightly scrolled foliate panels, regulation brass hilt incorporating crowned VR cypher, turn down inner portion, stepped pommel and ornamental backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its brown leather scabbard with engraved locket, middle band with chape, with 2 rings. GC, the blade retaining some original finish (scabbard broken above chape). Plate 5 £80-100
