ON OVERSEAS MAIL - TO GB "OVERLAND VIA CEYLON"; 8 Feb. 1851 EL (family contents) from Mahebourg to Essex (17 April backstamps) endorsed "By overland via Ceylon" with very fine matching blue boxed "PAID." (beside ms "1/2d") and "MAHEBOURG/F[..]Y 1851" marks nicely placed on the front along with fine "PACKET LETTER/ MAURITIUS" ds. Rare usage of village markings on overseas mail. Exhibition Quality.
