£1,500
A Queen Anne period sealed half-size armorial 'Onion' wine bottle - the bulbous body with licked-up base and short, tapering neck with string rim, the armorial seal dated 1709, the lettering above partially indistinct, 'O.....ION L A', 14.4cm high, chips to rim, old (worn) chips to top edge of seal.
* One large chip plus two smaller chips to rim. The top edge of the seal has an older, worn chip (small) and some abrasion to the surface of the glass, with some loss of detail, probably due to long term immersion in water. Several scratches to the surface of the glass to the shoulder. The surface throughout is dulled and abraded, again probably due to long term immersion. The base has a lovely layer of iridescent surface patination. There are no cracks to the glass and no restoration.
