Col. H.E Belfield. 1900 (Jan 18) - 1902 (June 29) c.150 Page diary kept by Belfield from his arrival in South Africa until shortly after the war, detailing his initial service on General Tucker's staff, transfer in February 1900 to Lord Methuen's staff where he served as Asst. Adjutant General, and service as Inspector General of Imperial Yeomanry towards the end of the war. Also 140+ letters to his wife, mostly written whilst pursuing General De Wet and then General De la Rey in the veldt. An interesting diary and letter group which includes an eyewitness account of the action at Klipdrift during which Methuen was wounded and captured.
