Sci-fi - Film and Television Interest - after Tim Hobbis (polycarver/sculptor, model maker and set builder for TV and film), a large fibreglass model, Cyberdragon MK2, painted by the vendor John Williams, previously exhibited at the National Space Centre, 188cm high, 83cm wide, 144cm deep
A note from the artist and vendor: Sixty base moulds were designed and made of the dragon by Tim Hobbis, set designer and model builder in the TV and film industry, for the Wild In Art public art trail around the city of Newport, South Wales in 2012. These were then decorated by local artists and placed around the city in prominent locations, as a tourist attraction and a fun trail for families to hunt down using a map creating especially for the event. I was selected to paint one of the dragons, and chose to give it a sci-fi "Cyber" theme.
After the trail ended in October 2012, the dragons were all put up for charity auction. As a result of the event, I got to know Tim quite well, and commissioned him to make me one more before the mould degraded, so that I could decorate it fully without the short time constraints I worked under for the first dragon. I spent the next 5 years enhancing and painting the "Cyberdragon MK2".
