Original vintage food advertising poster for Bovril - Bovril lightens the strain of winter - featuring bold black lettering on a white background in a red frame border. Printed in Britain in the 1930s, this campaign used puns and word play to resemble the public announcement / propaganda posters of the time. Developed by John Lawson Johnston in the 1870s, Bovril is a beef meat extract paste often used to make a hot drink or added as a flavour to stews and soup recipes when cooking or as a spread.
