Charles March Gere RA RWS (British 1869-1957) - Bust length portrait of a brown-eyed child in white smocked dress, watercolour on vellum, signed with monogram top right and dated 99, of rectangular form, 16.5cm, x 11cm approx, in wide black frame (Charles March Gere was a member of the Birmingham Group of artist and craftsman and the influence of fellow member Joseph South can be seen in this work. Gere taught at the Birmingham School of Art and illustrated books for the Kelmscott Press including the frontispiece for William Morris's 'News From Nowhere'
