1881 Queen Victoria 'Young Head' type A5 silver Halfcrown coin with crowned shield reverse (S 3889). Obverse: left-facing bust, originally by William Wyon, with hair pulled back in two fillets, date (1881) below and legend around that reads 'VICTORIA DEI GRATIA'. Reverse: Jean Baptiste Merlen's quartered shield of royal arms surmounted by a crown and surrounded by a wreath of olive branches. The legend reads 'BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF:' with national flowers below. Edge: milled. Weight: 14.10g. Diameter: 32.1mm. Mintage: 2,301,400. Grade: VF - Very Fine, with a black mark on the Queen's forehead on the obverse.
