Group of nine medals awarded to Private and later Warrant Officer Class 2 Leonard Wilfred Knight who served in the Royal Marine Light Infantry during the First World War, fighting at Passchendaele in 1917 and being wounded in action at the battle of Albert in 1918, and in the Royal Engineers during the Second World War.
Between the wars he served in the Territorial Army and received both the Territorial Efficiency medal and the later Efficiency Medal (Territorial) for his service. He was
Mentioned in Despatches for distinguished service in Italy in 1945 – London Gazette dated 19/07/1945 (p3726). The WW2 medals are all named in the ‘Boots’ style –
